WARNING! PLEASE SHARE THIS MESSAGE TO ANYONE TRAVELING! HYATT HOTEL PARKING LOT IN SANTA ROSA EXTREMELY UNSAFE! OUR RENTAL CAR REAR WINDOW SMASHED IN AND ALL LUGGAGE STOLEN *IN BROAD DAYLIGHT*!

Attention to anyone considering self-parking in the lot at the Hyatt Regency hotel in Santa Rosa, CA – KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN! I attended a conference there last weekend and my rental car was broken into *IN LESS THAN 3 HOURS* after my arrival and ALL OF MY LUGGAGE STOLEN! In the picture below you will clearly see this happened in BROAD DAYLIGHT – NEXT TO OTHER PARKED VEHICLES.
YOU NEED TO KNOW THAT YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN if you are visiting this hotel. There are *No Warning Signs Posted* and more than one member of the hotel staff confirmed that there are NO SURVEILLANCE CAMERAS in their own parking lot (however you will notice security guards walking around local grocery stores and restaurants nearby so clearly there is a crime problem in the area).
I am a single parent. Like most everyone today, I cannot afford the financial burden (and intense anxiety) from this type of personal violation. But I will get back on my feet. THANK YOU to all of my friends and family that are helping me recover from this! You mean the world to me!!!
To be clear, the hotel did ask me if I had used their valet service. Then they told me I could go shopping for clothes at the mall down the street. And yes, I was offered a menu if I wanted to order room service to be brought to the lobby while I made frantic phone calls.
Yes, they asked if I wanted to call the police, or if I wanted them to do it. Of course, I want the hotel to call the police! It’s THEIR PARKING LOT! So they did dial the number, but I was the one left to talk to the Santa Rosa PD (who are very nice). Because without surveillance footage and no suspect description, all I could do was file a police report online. NOTHING else could be done and nothing else was done.
Yes, the hotel asked me if I wanted some water. But they didn’t take down my name or even ask for my phone number. No, I have not yet been contacted by anyone from their world-renowned 650+ hotel corporation. But with your help and replies below, I hope we make a difference and prevent an even worse and potentially devastating outcome.
Thank you for listening and please BE SAFE!
